DREAM Act also helps children of legal workers

I would like to see reference made to the entire DREAM Act and not only the portion that covers children of undocumented immigrants. In its entirety, it addresses the status of children whose parents are in this country with legal work visas, who pay taxes but are not allowed to follow a path to citizenship.

The offspring lose their parents’ status at 21 and are expected to return to their country of origin, which they may not remember. They aren’t allowed Green Cards or Social Security numbers and have no available path to citizenship although they consider themselves to be Americans.

It’s shameful that we are exploiting the dreams of foreign workers who come here legally to pursue a better life. The children of these people deserve our support not our condemnation at achieving adulthood.

Hooray for President Obama for halting deportations on all children of immigrants.

The DREAM Act specifically mentions good moral behavior as one of the qualifiers. Are we sending away the best and the brightest in the mad dash to protect our borders? And who amongst you, ready to cast out the foreigners, has no immigrant ancestors?
