Tuna Fish Experiencing Risk Extinction

LONDON  Five of the eight endangered species of tuna. Conservation warned to resolve tuna fishing on a large scale. As quoted by the Daily Mail on Sunday (07/10/2011), "Three endangered species will become extinct, while another two will be under threat if no action is helping to protect them," said the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) .

The researchers looked at all the fish that includes, scombrid, mackerel, billfishes, swordfish, and marlins, it's all part of the 61 species are under threat of extinction. Their study said that "some of the species caught on a large scale, while preserving their attention to very small. This is because the commercial value of the catch is high. In addition, there is also difficulty in regulating the fisheries that exploit multinational inventory."

Experts from the IUCN warned that "the three species of bluefin tuna - south, the Atlantic and Pacific are particularly vulnerable to extinction because of fishing pressure on a large scale."

bluefin and bigeye are included in the category have the highest risk of danger of extinction, while yellowfin and albacore tuna are close to a threat or be threatened also to extinction if no conservation measures on habitat them. Among other species are white and blue marlin are considered very vulnerable to extinction and put them in three categories of the most serious for species at risk of death globally.

"All the species vulnerable bluefin tuna extinction if fishing continues to be done on a large scale and exaggerated," said Dr. Kent Carpenter one of the managers and marine biodiversity IUCN. "For a while a manhunt against the tuna is stopped, this will be part of the recovery program is needed. In order to prevent illegal fishing, a strong deterrent needs to be applied," said Jean-Christophe Vie, Deputy Director of the IUCN Global Species Programme.
