Strong earthquake 7.4 on the Richter scale hit the Pacific Ocean 172 miles east off the coast of Atka, Alaska


Washington An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit the Pacific Ocean 172 miles east off the coast of Atka, Alaska, United States (U.S.) on Thursday night so that a tsunami warning imposed in parts of coastal Alaska.The second earthquake measuring 7.2 Richter scale in the same area and at the same depth, which is about 40 km, occurred half a minute later, the agency said the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake occurred at 18:09 local time .

"Tsunami Warning daera now enforced in areas that include coastal areas of Alaska from Unimak Pass 130km northeast of Dutch Harbor until the Amchitka Pass, Alsaka ," Tsunami Warning Center said the West Coast and Alaska.This does not include the entire coast of Alaska peninsula and the rest of mainland Alaska.

Center was monitoring the tsunami risk is only on the west coast of North America from the Mexican border to Alaska.Tsunami warning means all coastal residents in the warning area near the coast or in low areas should be evacuated to places of higher and away from harbors and coves, including those dealing directly with the sea.Earthquakes in the magnitude as that normally cause a tsunami. If a tsunami happens, it will first waves hit Alaska at 20:12 local time
