Croatia and Slovenia to commemorate the 20th year of independence since separated from Yugoslavia. Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said Saturday in the capital Zagreb, the country commemorates 20 years into a modern state, reinforced by returning to the origin of Europe.

Various celebrations will be held in the town of Vukovar in the east, which became a symbol of resistance efforts during the Balkan War of 1991-1995.The country joined NATO in 2009 and will soon become a member of the EU-28 dated July 1, 2013.

Meanwhile in neighboring Slovenia, the various celebrations to commemorate the independence begins Friday night in the capital Ljubljana.Slovenia also states split from Yugoslavia on June 25, 1991 and became a member of the European Union and NATO in 2004.
