Skin cancer dangers being ignored by many young people


There's been a lot of talk about tanning lately, and doctors say it's a good opportunity to warn sun-worshipers about the dangers of skin cancer.But those warnings are being ignored by many young people.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says half of Americans, ages 18 to 29, were sunburned at least once in the last year. And six-percent of adults said they have used indoor tanning beds.

The report finds skin cancer risk jumps 75-percent among people who used tanning beds before they turned 35.The CDC says the best ways to avoid skin cancer are simple: Don't use tanning beds and when outdoors, stay in the shade and wear protective clothing.When you're at the beach or pool, they say you should wear sunscreen with at least SPF 15.
