Clinton: NATO's New Agreement with Russia Not the Best Way

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she was not sure negotiate a new agreement with Russia is the best way to ensure European security. Clinton said the NATO-Russia Council meeting in New York on Wednesday, the best way to achieve a secure Europe is to "strengthen the foundation that has sustained the European security for decades."

Meeting in New York, was held to prepare for the NATO-Russia summit in November in Portugal. Clinton said the summit should focus on the continuation of missile defense exercises between NATO and Russia, while reviewing ways to connect the two parties with an early warning system.Russia and NATO has been seeking closer relations after tensions caused by the 2008 Russian invasion to Georgia and Russian opposition to U.S. missile defense plans for Europe.
